Travelocity acquires Travelguru

travelocity

Some kind of consolidation taking place in the OTA segment, today Travelocity Global announced that they are acquiring Travelguru an Indian hotel distribution network. Travelocity  intends to keep both Travelocity and Travelguru running and later will run as a stand alone business unit.

Travelocity India will continue its full service online travel agent (OTA) focus, which includes international and domestic air, hotel and package travel. Travelguru will continue the  hotel business  and to grow and evolve by working hand in hand with Travelocity’s local and global team.

Acquisition amount hasn’t been disclosed yet, Travelguru was backed by Sequoia Capital and Battery Ventures and received funds totalling $25m USD.

Wondering how many OTA’s will survive, i feel Cleartrip, MMT, Yatra will remain in this market. What do u feel, let us know.
